if you want…
A lot of people have questioned why I have begun writing weeks out from leaving, a lot having nothing to do with my travels. Well, if you’ve noticed that then you’re reading the blog and that is exactly what I’m after.
So here is another post that doesn’t have direct information about my day to day travel – because I haven’t left yet, but an update on the relevance of the lead up. I’m sure you find it somewhat interesting otherwise you wouldn’t be reading what I am writing right now. So I will continue on.
I’m now hours out from the two week mark and I can tell you I’m feeling pretty out of it. I think I’m overwhelmed by all these new emotions; I kinda feel like I’m never entirely with it. This is tough when I have so much to do.
Today was very productive. I technically handed my phone contract over to my Mum; it’s now in her name and her address, too bad it’s still coming out of my bank account, temporarily. I’ll be handing over my phone and number to her on the 26/03, the day before I leave. Luckily she has the ability to change the number, so I’ll lose mine. Take note, if you decide to text me – I won’t receive it, but who texts me anyway? Oh that’s right – my Mum, so it won’t matter.
I bought a jumper from David Jones, it’s woolly and cool. The end of this boring story.
I suppose I did get frustrated with the saleswoman when she tried to sign me up to a David Jones credit card for half an hour, even when I told her I had no use for it considering I’d be in London in 2 weeks. In the end I lied to her and told her I was then visiting my friend in Nepal where I’d be living in a mud hut and that they don’t have David Jones over there. They don’t do they?
I set up my Visa debit card, organised my cash cards, enquired about the best way to wire my money across once I set up my British bank account and banked some money – god this is an exciting post. If you’re still reading this I commend you on your concentration skills.
I finally got my laptop by courier today! It’s called a MSI U200. I tell you what – this thing is pretty damn small, in fact I think if I tried I could fit it in a birthday card envelope. It’s not quite as big as your regular laptop, but not as small as those netbook’s that seem to be in at the moment. It’s right in between, a 12.5 inch screen, full sized keyboard, built in webcam. It’s lightweight and very efficient. Donal won’t be using it unless he gets down on his muscular knees and begs.
That’s about it for today – I’m off to blow some more money in the next couple of days, I need a camera so I can actually upload some photos onto my blog under the ‘photos’ section otherwise that heading will become kinda pointless wouldn’t it?
I’m going to Ash’s tonight, just so I can help level the playing field. Pretty sure there is going to be a whole house full of Dragon’s supporters. So go Parra! Thanks for reading, and be prepared to keep getting these long boring posts until I have something decent to talk about.
As Justin the big Irishman said to me the other day, “You’re nobody until you have a blog.”

Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now. Keep it up!
And according to this article, I totally agree with your opinion, but only this time!
This is a great blog you got here. The theme looks nice, awesome color combination.
Can I ask why you set up a Visa debit card for an Australia bank account you won’t be using?
Glad the prep is going well. We’re getting on the flight tomorrow at 10am. It’s 11:30pm and I’m only half way through packing.
